The world population at mid-2017 was an estimated 7.5 billion. Of that total, Africa accounted for 1.3 billion people, compared with 1 billion in the Americas, 3.1 billion in Asia, 745 million in Europe (which includes all of Russia), and 42 million for Oceana (which includes Australia and New Zealand).
